Town of Alamosa (Alamosa County) – Salmonella Outbreak - 10/27/08

  5. State assistance anticipated: The State Emergency Operations Center has been activated at level II status. An SEOC information line has been established at 720-852-6644. Multiple State agencies are on call.

  6. Deaths/Major Injuries: total 73 confirmed cases.

  7. Damage: No physical damage, economic: 60-65% restaurants remain open; all district schools, Trinidad State College Valley campus, and Adams State are closed for the remainder of the week.

  8. Current Status: The entire City has been notified of Stage 1 activities (Do not use city water for anything other than flushing toilets). The northern end of the City (Sector 1) has had >10ppm of chlorine go through the system for an excess of 12 hours. Progress continues in the central part of town and then move to the southern side. Thus far, there are no reports of valve / pipe problems (leakage, broken, etc). On March 26, approximately 12,000 gallons of water was distributed (69% was in bulk). There are approximately 46,000 gallons of bottled water on-hand.
