Report Date: 1900 hours January 5, 2007

Event Type: Blizzard

Situation: One of the continuing threats to the southeast region is the collapse of buildings. Throughout the day, several buildings were evacuated due to potential collapse. This problem may be exacerbated tonight with the projected one-two inches of snow that may fall.

Hay delivery continued throughout the day using ground assets. To date, approximately 720 small bales and thirteen large bales have been distributed for this incident, via ground assets.

The Rocky Mountain Coordination Center will be closing for the weekend. Demobilization planning is taking place for all assets at both the Lamar and Springfield command posts.

Procedures are being drawn up to advise farmers on rendering options of animals that did not survive the storm in an effort to help minimize the environmental impact. These procedures should be available next week.
