Situation: The delegation of authority to the Type 2 Incident Management Team has been signed by DEM director George Epp and Incident Commander Marc Mullenix.
The Colorado Agriculture Department is still attempting to get an agriculture extension agent in each county EOC. Currently, the following counties have agents: Kiowa, bent, Baca, Las Animas, and Bent. The Department’s vision was that these individuals physically set in each county EOC and coordinate agriculture needs and resources via relaying this information to the Lamar ICP.
Approximately 900 bales of hay were dropped by the Colorado National Guard helicopters and additional twelve each 1,700 lb bales by the Wyoming National Guard aircraft. Air operations will continue on January 4 th and then will be reassessed. The Civil Air Patrol will be reactivated for January 4 th to assist in locating residents who remain trapped in their homes.
CDOT continues it snow plow operations throughout the southeast region. They are also expanding their support to DEM by assisting in the county road effort.
The State Health Department has started to receive telephone calls regarding environmental impact, water quality (down stream from animal carcasses), and the condemning of restaurant food.
The Governor has signed Executive Order D 001 07, which amends Executive Order D 026 06, relating to the current disaster emergency.
Future concerns are still centered upon feeding and watering of livestock along with the potential for additional snow and high winds at the end of the week. Winds may advserly affect air operations.
