Report Date: December 28, 2006

Event Type: Blizzard

Situation : The State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) has been activated. Limited National Guard assets are currently mobilizing as a contingency. As a lesson learned from last week’s storm, just a reminder, all requests for National Guard support MUST be coordinated through the SEOC.

We have opened a common incident in WebEOC titled Winter Storm Dec 28. The Web address you need to use is " www.dem.state.co.us/eoc6". Unfortunately, you must use MS Internet Explorer to access the site properly. Within the incident there is a position log for each Region. All counties, cities, etc should use the position log for their region. If an event is of wider significance (State, multiple regions, etc..) check the box in your position log entry "post to significant event board". Someone in your jurisdiction should monitor the significant event board for new entries.

For resource requests or tasking assignments use the Task Assignment section. Creating an entry allows you to assign it to a WebEOC user or group. The entry will remain red in the Task list until completed. You can update the status of tasks while in progress. Please follow-up resource requests with a phone call or email. If you have forgotten your password or have WebEOC issues send an email to damian.mcloughlin@state.co.us or call 720.852.6620 or BlackBerry 303.815.0640.

Highway Closure: I-70 [from mile markers 228 (west of Idaho Springs)] to Eisenhower Tunnel due to accidents.

Weather Report : Another major weather system promises to dump lots of snow across the front range foothills, the eastern plains and much of the high country. A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for the front range this afternoon and will continue throughout tonight. Expect accumulations of 2 to 5 inches for metro Denver by this evening. PLANNING: An additional 7 to 12 inches in the Metro Area by tomorrow morning, with an additional 10 to 16 inches in the Front Range Foothills. The snow will taper off some early tomorrow, but then another blast of heavy snow is expected later tomorrow. Another shot of heavy snow for the eastern plains tomorrow night, and cold windy conditions all the way through Saturday. There is also concern about the eastern plains, where highs winds and blowing snow will make travel hazardous
