Q: I am having problems with my apartment and my landlord is not responsive. Can you help me?
A: The Colorado Division of Housing has no enforcement authority for dealing with landlord/tenant disputes. If you are receiving Section 8 rental assistance, contact your local housing authority. Otherwise, we suggest you contact Tenant Landlord Counseling at 303-237-0230 or Community Housing Services at 303-831-1935. Q: How do I apply for housing assistance payments (Section 8)?
A. Contact the local housing authority where you live (or want to live) to find out what their procedures are. Be aware that many localities have a long waiting list for housing assistance vouchers. Click here for more information on housing assistance payments.
Q: I am facing the foreclosure of my home. Can you help?
A. The Colorado Division of Housing is a primary sponsor of the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline. The Hotline will connect you with a counselor who can assist you in a variety of ways. There is no charge for this service. See here for more information. The Hotline: 1-877-601-HOPE (4673).
Q. What Does the Colorado Division of Housing Do?
A. The Colorado Division of Housing provides grants and loans to local governments, housing authorities, non-profit housing organizations, for-profit and non-profit housing developers, and other organizations working to create, preserve, and rehabilitate housing for Colorado’s workers, families, and seniors.
Q. Are you the same as the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority?
A. While we do work very closely with the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), we are two separate organizations with different missions. To learn more about CHFA, please visit their web site.
Q. Does the CDH give money directly to low-income persons?
A. CDH does not give funds directly to low-income persons, but only to housing and housing development organizations.
Q. How can my organization receive funds from the Colorado Division of Housing?
A. CDH has an application process for funds. Applicants will work with the CDH development staff to determine if funding is appropriate for your organization and/or your project. Please see the Development page for details.
Q. I’m a for-profit developer. Am I eligible to receive funds from the Division of Housing?
A. Yes. For-profit developers are encouraged to contact the Division’s development staff with any questions about developing housing for middle and low-income residents. You do not need to be a non-profit agency to be eligible for funds, although you will need to comply with the Division’s reporting requirements. Please see the Developers page for more details.
